That's because they need to be tested and certified that they aren't going to do anything bad to players. You may be aware that when devs release patches, they take a while to be approved for consoles. But there's nothing to stop a mod from including a BTC miner or spambot. There is nothing to stop a mod from doing all kinds of nefarious things, except reputation and the fact that the community looks out for itself. Consider something like Telemetry which literally runs a webserver on your PC. But essentially it opens the devs up to way more responsibility.Ī KSP mod on PC can do anything.
