Now my baby's ugly.Big Note: It is mostly-possible to make wesnoth graphics with nothing more than MSPaint or Appleworks. I did what Enkore and many other gurus recommend to retain the silver coated brush names on MAC brushes - to paint over with nail polish top coat. The next picture I'mma show ya is kinda embarrassing. It’s okie to use the Loew-Cornell 1/4" AMM Brush as a temporary blending brush… and then SAVE UP FOR MAC 217! But honestly, if you use the brushes every day, and they last for YEARS under your care, they’re worth the investment. U$22.50 is a lot to pay for one MAC 217 brush, especially for people who don’t have high disposable incomes or are just starting out on makeup. I used to think that it was such an extravagance to pay an arm and leg for MAC brushes. The e.l.f Blending Brush doesn’t come close either (and mine has shed like mad). So despite all that love for the Loew-Cornell 1/4" AMM Brush in blogs and forums, I personally don’t think it is comparable to 217. ![]() Compared to the Loew-Cornell Maxine's Mop 3/8” which is a known dupe of the MAC 239, the wordings on the AMM brush handle still look as good as new. So is the Loew-Cornell 1/4" AMM Brush a good substitute of the MAC 217? Prices of the other two LC brushes are stated there as well.Īnn's Mini Mops by Loew Cornell sells for U$3-4 I got it for S$6.80. In my previous post I related my story on how I finally managed to attain the Loew Cornell brushes in Singapore, in a secluded part of Yio Chu Kang. Price of Loew-Cornell 1/4" AMM Brush in Singapore ![]() I find the 217 slightly too big to apply on my crease and contour area so I use the Stage Shadow Smudger (which I got from the Stage Moving Out Sale!) to pack on color first, apply on the contour area, then blend out with the #217.īut overall, to be honest, I was most disappointed in this brush among the 3 LC brushes bought because I had the MAC 217 to compare with immediately. If I had to choose one thing I like about the Loew Cornell AMM brush, it'd be. The Loew-Cornell 1/4" AMM Brush is more domed-shaped than the MAC 217 and with its less dense bristles and over-flexibility, I find that I have to work harder to blend with the former. The 217 is stiffer but in a good way because you can maneuver with more control – it is fluffy but not flimsy. The bristles of the LC brush are less stiff, so I have less control over application. The LC brush feels kinda incomplete with insufficient bristles, like they made it half-way and stopped. It picks up much less color than the 217 so I have to dip into the eyeshadow more times than I normally would with the 217. PerformanceĬompared to MAC 217, the bristles of the LC brush are less fluffy and much less dense. The green handle is a little turn-off for me. The Loew-Cornell 1/4" AMM Brush has brown natural bristles made from camel hair. I prefer my makeup brushes to be fatter at the handle and weigh a little more. Like the Loew-Cornell Maxine's Mop 3/8”, it looks very much like a typical art brush and is lightweight. You have a little bit of both, but not in a good way. Some people say the Loew-Cornell 1/4" AMM (Ann’s Mini Mop) Brush is a dupe for MAC 213 (Fluff Brush), some say it’s for MAC 217 (Blending Brush). The battery life is something I can really boast about with this camera, which is good because it’s an integrated battery design (you can’t take it out). HERO4 Session is 40% lighter and 35% smaller than a HERO4 Black in a housing. You can take it surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, or anything else short of deep sea diving. This means you can toss it anywhere, get it dirty, and wash it off in the sink, all while recording. The camera is fully waterproof up to 33 feet (10 meters) without a housing. There are some key features this thing boasts that really make it unique in terms of the versatility, size/weight, and battery. ![]() It looks like the lens of a HERO4 was cut out from the camera – that’s essentially the idea behind the form factor – to create something smaller and even more versatile than the existing line of HERO4 cameras that can be either a great standalone product, or a tool for creating additional angles for any existing GoPro owners. Analogue alarm clocks are still out there, and they’re great if you fancy unplugging a bit and simplifying your sleep routine, but plenty of them now also incorporate smart features like sunset lights, SAD lamps, radios, coffee making capabilities and even unique ways to get you (forcefully if necessary) out of bed in the morning. When living in Hawaii I found this to be true, especially when talking with Australia or many of the Pacific Islands. I say this because when talking skip, especially on SSB when the other station is very far away and is not giving a strong signal the roger beep really can come in handy. It’s sad that the over use of the roger beep has led people to dislike even hearing the sound of one. These roger beeps have been modified to the point where they are more like noise toys than roger beeps, ruining the intended purpose. They is no need for them to be on and it really is just a frivolous use of the function.Īnother example are the roger beeps that are unduly long or have the multiple tones (a.k.a the 5 tone roger beep). That opinion has been generated most likely by the general overuse of the roger beep in situations where it is not necessary.įor example – when two people live in the same town and are not more than 2 miles from each other and both are running with their roger beeps on for over an hour while they key and un-key the tones can become seriously annoying. ![]() In reality the roger beep can be a very useful function, but there are many people out there who would be happy to never hear one again. But in cases when a station is barely audible in the distance and it’s difficult to determine when they have finished talking the roger beep will often give a tone louder than there voice signal so that it’s very clear they are off of the key. In many cases when the radio is very quiet and there are only two people on the channel than the use of the roger beep is not really necessary as both parties will be able to hear the other person un-key and can tell if they watch their meter that the signal has stopped being transmitted. The intention of the roger beep is to let the other operator in the conversation and any other people on the radio know when the person talking is finished and is no longer on the key. The tone can be short, long, or even a combo of multiple tones. Simply put the roger beep is a tone that sounds when a radio operator un-keys their microphone. ![]() ![]() It now is a feature that many people expect to find on a higher end radio even if it’s something they don’t intend to use.īefore we get into the pros and cons of the roger beep maybe we should talk about it’s intended use and function. The roger beep has been around for a long time in different forms but it wasn’t really until the additions of the export radios did the feature become so prevalent in the hobby. It’s the short little tone you hear when someone un-keys their radio and although it’s a simple little noise it can create some very strong feelings. Roger Beep – useful tool or annoying toy? There was no real contest when the Captur went head-to-head with the Ford Ecosport in September 2014. Yet despite these strengths and a practical interior, the Renault had to give second best to the C4 Cactus, which was more characterful and comfortable, and featured a quirky design that helped it stand out even alongside the handsome Captur. When we tested the revised Catur in September 2017 we praised its style, generous standard equipment and refined and responsive engine. Both cars easily had the measure of the Nissan Juke, which was found to be cramped, uninspiring to drive and hobbled by a high asking price. The Renault couldn’t match the Mazda’s engaging driving dynamics or high quality finish, but it was every bit as practical and had fractionally lower running costs. When the Captur met the then-new Mazda CX-3 and recently facelifted Nissan Juke in July 2015 it finished as a close runner-up. Mazda CX-3 vs Renault Captur vs Nissan Juke However, neither has the style, personalisation options or elevated driving position of the Captur. Both the Ford Focus and VW Golf feel more grown-up on the move and feature a little more space inside, plus there’s a wider choice of engines. If you don’t necessarily want the rugged visual appeal of an SUV, then there are some accomplished traditional family hatchbacks to consider. While it’s reasonable to drive with decent engines, it looks and feels cheap inside and isn’t as comfortable as most rivals. You could also consider the Ford Ecosport, but we wouldn’t recommend it. But it’s disappointing to drive and not refined enough. The Vauxhall Mokka of the same era is another option, because it’s decent value second-hand and has a spacious interior.
